The Challenge:

The marketing team at Boehringer Ingelheim had a strong foundation in their core responsibilities, but as the pharmaceutical landscape evolved, so did the expectations placed on modern marketers. The team recognised that they needed to get ahead. With increasing pressure to connect with more diverse audiences, deliver value-driven campaigns, and support commercial goals in a highly regulated industry, the team sought a strategic refresh.

While the fundamentals of branding and messaging were well understood, there was a noticeable gap when it came to applying contemporary marketing practices. Topics like content marketing, social media strategy, and integrated campaign development felt more urgent than ever—but many team members felt they hadn’t been fully equipped to apply these tools effectively. They wanted more than theory; they were looking for practical frameworks, up-to-date insights, and real-life examples that could help them translate ideas into action.

The client also needed a way to bring the team together around a shared understanding of marketing’s evolving role in business growth. With professionals from different backgrounds and levels of experience, it was important to create a space where everyone could build confidence, speak a common language, and walk away with strategies they could immediately apply in their day-to-day work. This was about sharpening their edge as marketers, and aligning their efforts with the broader vision of innovation and impact that Boehringer Ingelheim stood for.

This workshop was engaging and refreshing! The trainer was passionate, and I left with practical skills and new ideas on digital and content marketing. I feel ready to apply these techniques in real-world scenarios.

The Solutions:

To meet Boehringer Ingelheim’s evolving marketing needs, PPEARL curated a comprehensive two-day workshop designed to refresh the team’s foundational knowledge while building their confidence in more advanced, modern marketing strategies. The workshop was delivered in-person and led by an experienced facilitator with a strong background in both brand strategy and digital transformation.

The programme was carefully paced to ensure that participants at different experience levels could engage meaningfully. Day one focused on reinforcing the building blocks of effective marketing, including audience targeting, messaging strategy, and campaign planning. From there, the content evolved into more contemporary topics such as content marketing in regulated industries, channel planning, and the strategic use of social media. All framed in ways that were directly relevant to the pharmaceutical context.

The Expert blended practical exercises, case-based learning, and peer discussions to keep the sessions interactive and grounded in real-world application. Participants worked through current brand and campaign challenges, using them as case examples to apply new thinking and test ideas in a safe environment. They also explored how marketing contributes not just to visibility, but to business growth and patient impact, helping reframe marketing from a support function to a strategic driver of outcomes.

The Impact:

Participants left the workshop feeling more confident and equipped to tackle their marketing responsibilities with fresh perspective and sharper tools. Many shared that the workshop helped connect the dots between what they already knew and what the business now needed from them. On average, participants reported a significant improvement in their skills, with self-rated scores rising from 2.91 to 4.45 out of 5—a clear indicator of both learning and practical takeaway. The content struck the right balance between foundational refreshers and new ideas, helping participants feel anchored without being overwhelmed.

The overall satisfaction score of 4.64 out of 5 reflected both the relevance of the material and the engaging delivery style of the facilitator.

Specific highlights mentioned in the feedback included the step-by-step breakdown of marketing video production, practical tips for content marketing in a pharmaceutical context, and the clear structure introduced for brand marketing. Participants appreciated how these frameworks could be applied directly to their day-to-day work. At the same time, several attendees expressed interest in spending more time on real case studies and editing exercises, suggesting a deeper appetite for applied learning. A few also recommended extending the duration of the workshop to allow for more discussion and hands-on experimentation. These reflections showed that the session not only met its learning goals but sparked genuine enthusiasm for further growth.
